Change in behaviours needed – Dr Quaye

Dr Daniel Quaye, a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, has noted that a change in the behavioural patterns of Ghanaians is needed to help improve the declining moral ethics.

He said a “seismic shift in the moral foundation of the society is necessary and we should not expect foreigners to fix our problems for us”.

Dr Quaye said this in Accra on Wednesday, during a workshop organised by Ghana Foundation Ghana Foundation for Sustainable Wealth Creation, a non-governmental organisation, for the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana on the Management 5.0 concept being implemented by the foundation.

He said some public and private initiatives including Ghana Foundation have been established to help address the problems facing the nation.

“What is the legacy we are leaving for our children” he asked, adding that the answer to this would determine the future of the nation.

He said effort to address the imbalance of the society must start somewhere, hence the introduction of the new concept called the Management 5.0.

Mr Abu Millah, the Executive Chairman, Ghana Foundation for Sustainable Wealth Creation, said since 2008, a variety of management concepts have been created globally to be employed by organisations to improve productivity and performance.

He said Management 5.0 is a concept that provides the theory and practice on how to avoid waste, ignorance and greed and “this is apt for a society like ours whose problems includes poverty, corruption, crime, conflicts, debt, sickness and climate change”.

Mr Millah said applying the concepts of Management 5.0, would help address our poverty situation, create prosperity, protect and safeguard the environment and provide a blue-print for the performance and productivity improvement.

He expressed the hope that stakeholders interested in the development of the society would give a critical assessment of the new concept and help halt our perennial concern of waste, ignorance and greed.
