Dialysis machines for Volta Regional Hospital by Sep.

The Volta Regional Hospital would have four dialysis machines by September.

Before then, a water treatment plant worth GH?28,000.00 would have to be installed to enable the machines function, Mamaga Akua Dei II, Paramount Queenmother of Asogli said.

She therefore appealed to public-spirited individuals and organisations to provide the medical facility with the plant.

The provision of the four NIPRO Surdial 55+dialysis machines followed an agreement between the Regional Hospital and D. Med Healthcare AG Limited, at the instance of the Ho Asogli Queenmother’s Association.

Mama Attratoh II, Queenmother of Ho-Dome and Coordinator of the Association said the Regional Hospital is in dire need of the machines to be able to deliver “cutting-edge” medical services to the more than two million people in the region.

She said a number of people in the region travel to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra weekly for kidney related ailments, and are often only able to access the facility after two months, with some have their conditions worsened.

Mama Attrato expressed hope that the installation and functioning of the dialysis machines in the Regional Hospital would help save lives.

Dr John Tampuori, Medical Director, Volta Regional Hospital, told the GNA that the Hospital refers about nine patients every month to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for kidney related ailments.

He said demand for dialysis machines is high and said the installation would help improve healthcare delivery in the region.
