Bicycle repairer fined GH¢1,440.00 for stealing

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court has imposed a fine of GH¢1,440.00 on a bicycle repairer for stealing items valued at GH¢1,460.00 and a cash of GH¢1,200.00.

Ibrahim Latiff, 25, pleaded guilty to causing damage, unlawful entry and stealing when he appeared before the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Plang Brew.

He will serve 24 months in prison if he fails to pay the fine.

Giving the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Fabian Sallah, said Mr Sulley Sani, a trader and the complainant ,lives at Akim Oda Community ‘6’ whilst the convict lives at Akim Oda Zongo.

The prosecutor said on July 22, this year, at about 17:30 hours, the complainant and his family returned home from work and detected that their room had been broken into and personal items and a cash of GH¢1,200.00 had been stolen.

Mr Sani lodged a complaint with the Police whilst the taxi driver, who conveyed the items, also stood as a witness and led the Police to cause the arrest of the convict.

After the arrest some of the items were retrieved
