Stakeholders in education urged to help shape lives of children

Madam Rita Odoley Sowah, the La-Dadekotopon Municipal Chief Executive, has urged stakeholders in education, to help mould the lives of children.

She urged parents and teachers to support each other and show unconditional love for children, in order for them to become responsible adults in future.

Madam Sowah made the call as the special guest of honour at the 11th graduation ceremony of the Airforce Specia Creche and Kindergarten School at Burma Camp in Accra.

She pointed out that the education and training of children was not the responsibility of one person, but the collective duty of all, whether directly or indirectly.

Mrs Margaret Sampson-Oje, Headmistress of the School, said it continued to perform creditably, despite the high enrolment.

She entreated parents to provide their children with their educational materials and other basic needs, and to also co-operate with their teachers, to create the sound atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.

She expressed gratitude to the Management of the Garrison Education Unit and the Airforce Base, and the mother unit, for their immense contributions and prompt responses to the needs of the school.

Madam Rejoice Kporku, an educationist and the guest speaker, said effective teaching was an incentive for successful learning.

According to her, the question that should agitate the minds of teachers was what was their contribution to education in the country.

Madam Bernice A. Addae, the Municipal Education Director, said her outfit would ensure the provision of the needed support, to help promote education in the area for the school to become one of the best ones.

Sergeant Abdallah Amadu, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Chairman of the School, commended parents and guardians for their commitment and dedication in the payment of PTA levies.

Sgt Amadu said the Association had expanded three classrooms, and improved upon electrical systems of the school.
