L’Oreal West Africa supports Abokobi health post

L’Oreal West Africa, a subsidiary of the world’s leading beauty company, presented a multi-purpose structure, equipped with furniture and computers to the Abokobi Health Post as part of the company’s Citizen’s Day.

The Citizen’s Day is set aside annually for employees in the 130 countries where the company operates to undertake activities and to give back to the community as espoused by the L’Oreal Spirit.

Mr Idorenyen Enang, Managing Director for L’Oreal West Africa, said the company has a strong focus on corporate social responsibility and management was excited to begin the project.

He said going forward the company would want to measure progress and initiate other activities to empower the community.

”We will be looking at other economic activities as well as how we can help the women grow and get better for themselves and their families,” she added.

The structure, designed to accommodate 120 people, would be used to provide focused antenatal counselling for women in the community as well as serve as the location for community health communication.

Dr Julius Dadebo, Director of Health Services Ga East, commended the company for the contribution to support the post’s maternal health capabilities and expressed the hope that it would limit the need for women to travel long distances to seek care for maternal health issues.

“If you are able to counsel women, they have no option but to come and now women in the community can get the services they deserve,” Dr Dadebo said.
