Societe Generale supports Ghana Heart Foundation

The Staff and Management of Societe Generale Ghana, have donated Gh?33,000.00 to the Ghana Heart Foundation, as part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Ms Angela Nanansaa Bonsu, Company Secretary at a ceremony in Accra to make the presentation, said half of the amount was contributions from staff, while the rest was a top-up from Management.

“We see the good work that the Ghana Heart Foundation is doing in the country, and we are motivated to encourage the organization with our donation,” she said.

Dr Lawerence Sereboe, Director of the National Cardiothoracic Centre, who received the money, explained that donations to the Foundation were used to support patients who underwent heart surgery, since the procedure was very expensive.

“This morning, I operated on a two-year old boy whose surgery cost 8,000 dollars,” Dr Sereboe said, and asked how many Ghanaian parents could afford the amount.

He said donations like the one given by Societe- Generale Ghana, helped such patients to undergo successful surgery.

Dr Sereboe said about 17.3 million people world-wide lose their lives through cardiovascular diseases each year, and urged Ghanaians to adopt healthier lifestyles to avoid such diseases.

He commended the bank for its regular donations to the Foundation, and urged other institutions and individuals to also support the good course.

Mr Gilbert Hie, Managing Director of S-G Ghana, said the bank was poised to be socially responsible, apart from answering the customer’s financial needs in a responsible manner.

He added his voice to the call for healthy lifestyles, and urged his employees to endeavor to lead stress-free lifestyles.
