Three bridges at Mallam now death traps (photos)

Residents of Mallam in the Ga south Municipality in the Weija Gbawe constituency are appealing to the Ga south Municipal Chief Executive, Jerry Aquaye Thompson and the Member of Parliament, Comfort Rosemond Abrah to facilitate the re-construction of some collapsed bridges in the Mallam Borla road area.

The collapsed bridges along Borla road according to the residents, pose a major threat to those who use them for their daily business activities.

At least six people died while two children also drowned in the river after the recent flood disaster.

A resident of the area, Jewel Ofori Poku in an interview with executives of a social development partners, Concerned Youth for Development (CYD) within the Weija-Gbawe, indicated that the Municipal Chief Executive inspected the collapsed bridge after the June 3, flood disaster however nothing has been done or said about when it will be reconstructed.

Jewel Ofori Poku also stressed that serious erosion is taking place as a result of the collapsed bridge which if care is not taken will affect the road and cause massive traffic during rush hours in the area.
