Churches asked to use platform to fight indiscipline

Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, has called on churches to help tackle indiscipline in the country.

She said if the church fails to help deal with the issue, efforts made towards the development of the country, would not achieve the desired effect.

Ms Frimpong was speaking at the formal opening of the First Biennial Grand Convention of the Koforidua – Ho Grand Commandery and Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St John International in Koforidua.

The five-day convention is being organised on the theme: “Sustaining family life in the changing world; the role of the knight.”

The Most Reverend Joseph Afrifa-Agyekum, Catholic Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese who delivered the keynote address, said the values of the family are currently under attack by some proponents of the gay and lesbian culture.

He called on families to adopt the practice of reading the bible regularly and urged parents to lead exemplary lives.

Most Reverend Afrifa-Agyekum urged parents to develop an interest in the friends of their children and monitor the electronic gadgets they buy for them.

This, he said, is important to know the sites the children visit and the type of films that they watch.

In a welcoming address, Colonel Francis K. Kumi, Regimental Commander of the 12th District, called on the participants of the convention to critically examine the theme of the convention and contribute meaningfully for the good of the order.
