Government Committed To Equity In Incomes – Minister

Accra,(Greater Accra) Oct. 20 The Deputy Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, has re-affirmed the government’s determination to pursue systematic initiatives aimed at achieving greater equity in income distribution for all social groups. It is in this regard, she said, that the government welcomes the collaborative assistance of organisations in the search for more effective ways of integrating the underprivileged into the mainstream of economic activity. Mrs Benyiwa-Doe gave the assurance at the installation and Charter anniversary night of Accra Diamond Lions’ Club (ADLC) in Accra yesterday. She charged non-governmental and charitable organisations to come out with well coordinated mechanisms for achieving maximum effectiveness in meeting the needs of the marginalised in society. The Deputy Minister commended the various branches of the Lions Clubs in Ghana for their numerous financial and material assistance to the disadvantaged and underprivileged. She charged ADLC to let the noble principles of humanitarianism always guide them in their dealings with the vulnerable in society.
