13-year-old JHS pupil enstooled as chief

A 13-year-old JHS pupil has been enstooled as the chief of Pakyi No 1, a town in the Ashanti Region.

Barima Kwadwo Bonsu, a student of Salvation Army in Patasi was taken through some traditional rituals at the palace Friday.

The queen mother of Pakyi No 1, Nana Yaa Asantewaa Bonsu, who doubles as the mother of the enstooled chief, said she was ordered by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to enstool her son and wouldn’t go contrary to tradition.

Nana Yaa Bonsu said people may criticize her, but she believes tradition and customs must be duly followed.

“I respect tradition and the Ashanti Kingdom, I respect the Otumfuo, so I cannot disobey his orders”.
