Creative Arts teachers attend workshop

Glis Educational Consult (GEC), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has organized a two-day capacity building workshop for 40 pre-school Creative Arts teachers in Kumasi.

“The Arts is the heart and power of imagination and creativity, therefore, any nation that down plays its relevance heads for retrogression,” Mr William Gyasi-Duku, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GEC said.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), in an interview on the sidelines of the workshop over the weekend, he said many problems afflicting the progress of the nation would be solved if the Arts industry was incorporated into the education curricula from the pre-school stage.

Mr Gyasi-Duku said no nation had achieved economic growth without a robust creative industry, adding that, the future will be bleak, if no concrete measures were put in place to address the issue.

Mrs Jacqueline Kofi-Adu Brobbey, a participant, said the programme has equipped them with new ways of teaching with artistic designs.

She said there was a need for an injection of capital into the industry to revive it and urged all parents to observe their children closely in their early development stages to discover their God-given talents.

The workshop was aimed at enhancing the capacity of Creative Arts teachers to boost academic work.
