MTN Appoints First Ghanaian CEO

Mobile Communications giant MTN Ghana has appointed Mr. Ebenezer Twum Asante as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace Serame Taukobong who has left the yellow family.

Mr. Asante whose appointment takes effect from July 1, 2015, joined MTN in 2008 as Sales and Distribution Executive but currently he’s the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Rwanda (He held this position for the two years).

Mr. Asante spent 13 years with Unilever where he held various positions including Managing Director for Zambia and Customer Development Director as well as a member of the Unilever Ghana Board.

He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from Henley Management College and was part of MTN’s Global Advancement Programme (GAP) in 2010. He also participated in Executive level and General Management development programs at the Ashridge Business School (UK), Harvard and Insead (Paris).
