BECE leakage; three more arrested

Three more people have been arrested over the massive leakage of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers.

This brings the total number of people arrested in connection with the BECE leakage to thirteen.

Deputy Minister of Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who confirmed the arrest said investigations are still ongoing to ensure all those responsible are penalized.

The suspects include three Junior High School students and ten others. The students were arrested for possessing some of the leaked papers in the Ashanti and the Greater Accra regions and for allegedly aiding in the fraud.

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has cancelled five papers of the ongoing BECE throughout Ghana.

They are the part 2 of English Language; Religious and Moral Education; Integrated Science; Mathematics, and Social Studies.

The leaked papers have been scheduled to be re-taken on June 29 and 30, 2015, according to a statement by the WAEC.
