CBOs attend workshop on HIV/AIDS

An HIV/AIDS awareness campaign for 10 Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) in the Ahafo-Ano South District has been held at Mankranso in Ashanti.

The workshop, which was organised by the District Assembly, aimed at educating the CBOs on the effective methods at disseminating information about the disease, mode of its spread and preventive measures to be adopted.

Mr Benjamin Kofi Gyasi, Deputy District Co-ordinating Director and a focal person for the AIDS programme, noted that the campaign messages have gone down well with some communities in the area.

He urged the CBOs not to relent on their efforts but continue to reach out to every community and hamlet to sensitise the people on the dangers of the disease.

Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the District Chief Executive (DCE), urged the people to discard the notion that AIDS is a curse, saying, “AIDS is real and everybody needs to be careful not to contract it through unprotected sex”.
