BECE begins today

This year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination begins today.

Over 438,000 candidates are sitting.

They will write the English Language and Social Studies papers on Monday, starting with English paper 1 at 9 am.

The number of candidates for this year represents an increase of 15,000 over last year’s figure.

Meanwhile, as part of measures to ensure the smooth running of this year’s BECE the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has set up new depots.

The depot is where all the examination papers are kept for onward distribution to the various districts to prevent incidences of delays on the day of the exam.

According to the West Africa Examination Council, all is set for the exams.

Public Relations Officer for WAEC, Agnes Teye Cudjoe told Starr News “everything is ready for the exams to be conducted and we’ve put in place more security measures.”
