Irate youth attack chiefs for backing Oppong-Nkrumah

Tension has engulfed the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency in the Eastern region following the victory of Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah in the opposition NPP’s parliamentary primaries which took place Saturday.

Some irate youth in the constituency have reportedly burnt the traditional stools of some chiefs they suspect supported Oppong Nkrumah against their preferred candidate John Obiri Yeboah.

They have accused the Benkumhene of the traditional area Nana Acquah Frempong and another sub chief, Nana Asabro, of taking bribes from the former Joy FM worker.

A former Unit Committee chairman of the area Osei Asomaning told StarrFMonline.com Sunday that the youth are very angry at the turn of events.

Oppong-Nkrumah polled 219 out of 418 votes to represent the main opposition in that constituency in the 2016 elections.

He beat his main rival, John Obiri Yeboah, who polled 145 votes in the primaries.
