Joe Ghartey supports students

Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan in the Western Region, has donated 1,460 pieces of mathematical sets (Mathsets) to some Junior High School (JHS) students in the area at a brief ceremony.

The Mathsets were mainly given to JHS students who would sit for the Basic Education Certificate Education (BECE) in the constituency.

The beneficiary students were drawn from five schools in the area namely Anglican Junior High School (JHS), Methodist JHS, Catholic JHS, Nana Nketsia JHS and STMA JHS.

The MP wished the students well in their endeavour and particularly reminded them of the importance of the impending BECE.

Mr Ghartey told the students that examinations such as the BECE were put in place to prepare young people for the future.

He said that in their moment of anxiety and difficulty, they should not lose hope but look up to God for inspiration.

Later in an interview, Hon Ghartey, who is also the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, mentioned that his major concern in the constituency has been the improvement of education at all levels.

He shared his experience in life with the young people and encouraged them to stay away from social vices and take their studies seriously.

He mentioned that as MP for the constituency, he planned not to only develop physical infrastructure of the area but help to inspire the young people to greater heights.

The MP wished them well and pledged to assist any student, who would work hard to pursue their dreams.

“The best students in the BECE will get a three-year scholarship to pursue Senior High School (SHS) education.

“The best female student will also get a special scholarship. I have also initiated the Best Teachers’ Awards which will commence this December and will take place every year,” he added.

The students and authorities of the beneficiary students thanked the MP for the gesture.
