NPP Polls: I don’t trust the album – Jumah

Fresh reports from the Asokwa Constituency voting center indicate that former Member of Parliament (MP) Kofi Jumah’s rage and act of vandalism was because he doubted the credibility of the voters register being used.

According to a constituency communications officer, Edmund Kyei, the voting had started peacefully with the council of elders, MP and executives having cast their votes as per protocol.

Just when the coordinators were called to cast their votes, Mr. Jumah interrupted the process expressing doubts over the album.

Kyei recounted that Kofi Jumah walked to the Electoral Commission officer stating that he did not trust the album.

“I don’t believe it (the register),” Jumah charged before he went on to tear the register in question, kicked the ballot box and scrambled other electoral materials.

The police commander of Asokwa, Mr. Bawa subsequently ordered his men to arrest the former Kumasi mayor, before sending him to the Asokwa Police station.

Mr. Edmund Kyei revealed that last Thursday in a meeting with the regional chairman of the NPP, Chairman Wuntumi; both Patricia Appiagyei, the sitting MP and Mr. Kofi Jumah had agreed to use the very register that he (Kofi Jumah) was contesting today.

Party officials are currently gone to the police station to grant him bail in order to return him and his agents to the voting center to continue with the process. The elections meanwhile have been stalled for now.
