Ghana holds memorial service for flood, fire victims

A memorial service for victims of the flood and fire disasters that afflicted the nation last week in underway at the State House in Accra.

The ceremony will climax the 3-day national mourning exercise declared by the government.

Over 150 people lost their lives in a GOIL fuel station explosion at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra after long hours of a heavy downpour which also flooded the city.

The inter-faith, inter-denominational National Memorial Service will be held at the forecourt of the State House.

It will begin at 8:30am.

The Christian Council of Ghana will also hold a memorial service at the Osu Presby Church for the victims.

An inaugural memorial service led by vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur was held at the Flagstaff House on Monday.
