Group Insurance scheme for teachers

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has instituted a Group Insurance Scheme with Dunwell Insurance Company under the Teachers Mutual Fund for its members.

Mr Addo said every teacher with the Fund would contribute an annual premium of 5,000 cedis and would enjoy death and incapacitation benefits of two million cedis per benefit

The District GNAT Secretary for Manya Krobo, Mr Stephen Nakotey Addo, said this at a day’s orientation course for local GNAT officers.

The District Chairman of GNAT for Fanteakwa, Mr J.S.Y. Tettevi expressed concern at the inability of some local GNAT officers to protect the interest of teachers in their localities whenever those teachers got into problems.

He appealed to the officers to resolve teachers’ conflicts amicably at the local level instead of looking on unconcerned for aggrieved parties to summon the affected teachers before traditional rulers
