Gold buyer in trouble for alleged murder

A Tarkwa Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 22year-old gold buyer, John Amoah, into prison custody for allegedly murdering Aniyah Ndow, a 20 year-old illegal miner.

The accused’s plea was not taken, but he would re-appear before the court on June 9.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Faustina Anaman told the court, presided over by Madam Gifty Cudjoe, that the complainant Ayamka Atamkure, was an illegal miner and resided in the same vicinity at Kaniakor Top Site, near Nsuaem, with the accused person.

She said on May 29, this year at about 0100 hours, the deceased went to an illegal mining grinding machine shop belonging to John Amoah to steal and was arrested by the accused and two others, now at large.

Inspector Anaman said Amoah and the other two persons beat Ndow mercilessly and later carried him to unknown destination.

The Prosecutor said on May 31 at about 1500 hours, a search was conducted and Ndow was found dead with his body decomposed in the bush at the outskirt of the Kaniakor town.

The accused was later arrested and charged with the offence.
