Parents urged to provide for children with special needs

The president of the Sekondi chapter of the women’s wing, Local Council of Churches, Mrs Martha Nutsugah, has called on individuals and benevolent organisations to support institutions for the mentally-handicapped in the country.

Presenting an electronic corn mill machine worth 3,000 Ghana Cedis, to authorities of Twin-City Special School at Sekondi in the Western Region, Martha Nutsugah said the donation forms part of the group’s social responsibility to provide for the less-fortunate in society.

The headteacher of the school, Mrs. Elizabeth Amewowor, appealed to parents to cater for mentally-handicapped children by showing extra care and attention.

She said the corn mill machine will be put to good use to serve the nutritional needs of the pupils, as well as generate income for the school.
