Rainstorm Destroys School Property

The roofs of all the ten classroom, two offices and stores of two schools at Dominase in the Upper Denkyira District have been blown off while the walls of other schools have collapsed following a rainstorm in the area. Stationary, furniture and other school property have also been destroyed, pupils of the two schools have been evacuated to the Chief’s palace, while others are housed at the local Anglican Church. The headteachers of the schools, Mr.. Evans Acquah and Mr.. Kow Arhinful, have appealed to the District Assembly, NGOs, and other benevolent organisations to help rehabilitate the schools. The MP for the area, Mr.. C. O. Nyanor, apealed to the National Disaster Relief committee to assist the schools rebuild their structures. The District Coordinating Director, Mr.. Kwami Abradu, said the Assembly has instructed its Disaster Management and Education Sub-Committees to initiate the necessary steps to ensure that classes resume immediately.
