Heavy downpour causes floods in Cape Coast

Certain parts of Cape Coast including the Kotokuraba, London Bridge and the Ntsin areas this morning experienced floods following a heavy downpour.

The rains, which started at about 0800 hours, flooded Kotokuraba, the main shopping centre in the Municipality.

Business activities were at standstill with many stores closed. Some shop owners moved their wares to safer places.

Culverts in the Ntsin area were flooded due to garbage that had choked them, making floodwaters to into nearby houses.

Some residents the GNA interviewed appealed to the Cape Coast Municipal Assembly to de-silt gutters and to clear garbage frequently to avoid flooding.
