Akufo-Addo not showing leadership – Ohene Ntow

A former general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Ohene Ntow has challenged the party’s 2016 flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo to stand up and show leadership in the crisis that has befallen the party.

According to him, the situation is likely to degenerate if sanity is not restored immediately.

Three regions – Central, Eastern and Volta – have passed a vote of no confidence in the national chairman Paul Afoko and the general secretary Kwabena Agyepong following their reported involvement in the killing of the Upper East regional chairman of the party Adams Mahama.

But speaking to Fiifi Banson on Kasapa FM Tuesday, Ohene Ntow said he believes the two individuals have become victims of circumstances.

“ If the leaders don’t sit up and deal with this matter, it’s going to get out of hands.

“There are so many things that have been left unaddressed to in this party and it is creating tension and bad blood in the party.

“A lot of the people speaking now, speak in support of Akufo-Addo and so I believe if he speaks out and declare his readiness to work with Afoko and Agyapong or otherwise, then there can be finality to this matter,” he stated.

He continued: “If we don’t deal with the matter that way, then we are destroying the party and disappointing the country. I think he (Akufo-Addo) hasn’t been assertive and decisive enough in these matters”.
