NPP crisis: Afoko’s brother charged with murder

An Accra magistrate court has remanded into police custody the suspect in the murder of the Upper East regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Adams Mahama.

He has formerly been charged with murder.

Gregory Afoko, who is believed to be the brother of the NPP’s national chairman Paul Afoko was arrested last week Thursday after the attack which led to the death of the regional chairman.

Starr News’ court correspondent Wilberforce Asare reported that the court was besieged with party and family members who were anxious to hear the court’s direction on the matter.

Asare noted also, that lawyers for the accused, expressed concerns over the charge sheet which associates their client with the national chairman of the opposition party.

Meanwhile, three regions – Central, Eastern and Volta – have passed a vote of no confidence in the national chairman Paul Afoko and the general secretary Kwabena Agyepong following their reported involvement in the killing of the Upper East regional chairman of the party Adams Mahama.
