Abortion man grabbed

Information reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that Kwabena Larbi, a 29-year-old farmer and native of Panpang in the Suhum Municipality in the Eastern Region, has been nabbed by the Suhum Police for allegedly giving a poisonous substance to his girlfriend to abort a seven-month-old pregnancy.

The victim, Adjoa Akofa, 23, is currently on admission at the Suhum Government Hospital, while the suspect is in police grips assisting in investigations.

Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, Superintendent Yahaya Muchiraru said last Sunday at about 9pm, the suspect gave a concoction suspected to be poison to the lady to drink in order to abort the pregnancy.

According to him, after drinking the substance, the victim became unconscious and the suspect took her and dumped her in a manhole at the back of his house. He then hit her with broken blocks, with the aim of killing her, but the lady didn’t die.

Supt Muchiraru noted that the victim, having regained consciousness at about 2am, shouted for help and some community police members in the area came to her rescue. They subsequently took the lady to the hospital for treatment.

At the hospital, the lady mentioned the name of the suspect and the police went to the village and arrested him.
