South Tongu: NDC chairman arrested

The South Tongu constituency chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Sackle has been remanded into police custody.

The Dabala magistrate court in the Volta region Monday remanded Sackle and four others for allegedly demolishing a building under construction at Dabala-Junction.

Mr. Sackle who is claiming ownership of the piece of land on which one Vincent Xordo was putting up a building allegedly authorized his four accomplices to pull down the structure which was at the foundation level, in February this year.

The case has been adjourned to Friday, May 22, 2015.

Narrating the incident to Starr News’ Volta regional correspondent Lambert Atsivor, a divisional chief of Anyigbe-Agave, Torgbui Abordor, noted that the land in question belongs to his clan but has been given to the complainant to establish a prayer camp.

“Sackle, the current chairman of NDC in the South Tongu constituency authorized four people to destroy one Vincent Xordo’s property at Dabala-Junction so the complainant reported the case at Dabala police station.

“The station officer sent the case to the district commander at Sogakorfe where they charged the suspects and sent them to the Dabala magistrate court where they were remanded”.

Meanwhile, Starr News has gathered that the NDC chairman has fallen ill and is currently on admission at the Sogakope Government Hospital.
