Akatsi North: Rainstorm victims get support

Victims of the recent rainstorm in Akatsi North in the Volta region have finally received help from the district assembly.

They were given roofing sheets and some other aid materials to enable them reconstruct their demolished houses.

The heavy storm which swept through the Ave Dzalele and Kpeduhoe destroyed about 37 houses and rendered 94 persons homeless, most of whom are peasant farmers.

A head teacher of a local basic school at Ave-Dzalele, Reuben Agbeli whose 2-bed-room apartment was also ripped off told Starr News’ Volta regional correspondent Lambert Atsivor that he has lost all his belongings to the rains.

“I and my family were in the room, when the entire roof was taken off by the wind… Our items in the room, some got broken and everything was soaked.

“But God protected us, so we were not hurt,” he stated.

Apart from the 37 packets of roofing sheets presented to the victims by the district disaster management committee, the assembly also donated a television set and a refrigerator to the head teacher.
