Chief commends government for development projects

Obore Gariba Yankorso II, Paramount Chief of the Tatale Traditional Area, has commended the Government for the massive infrastructure development it had provided in the district to improve the living standards of the people.

He said governance was about development and the protection of national assets and that the Government, under President John Dramani Mahama, had lived above average in terms of education, health, electricity extension and road infrastructure and the provision of other basic amenities.

Obore Yankorso II commended the Government in Tatale when Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, Northern Regional Minister, paid a courtesy call on him as part of a day’s official visit to the district to introduce himself to the chiefs and people.

He said apart from the projects, government had also created the Tatale-Sangule District which is among the 46 newly created ones, making the area more attractive for people to live and work there.

OboreYankorso appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to terminate the contract on the GH¢1.4 million Tatale-Sangule District Assembly Complex as the contractor had abandoned work since 2014.

Touching on security, he appealed to the Northern Regional Minister to help post some police personnel to the district and provide the Tatale Police Station with a vehicle to facilitate its operations as there were rampant armed robberies in the area, especially on the Tatale-Zabzugu-Yendi road.

He said there were only 10 police personnel manning the entire district with over 169 communities, which made it difficult to protect the people.

He appealed to the Government to tar the 70 km Tatale-Yendi road as part of the construction of the eastern corridor road.

He said chiefs should not engage in politics but they appreciated what the NDC Government had done for them adding; “chiefs are non partisan but if somebody thinks about your welfare you would also do something to reciprocate the gesture”.

Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru expressed appreciation about the prevailing peace in the area and that would encourage government to undertake more projects.

He said conflicts derailed development and stressed the importance of peace for national development.

The minister inspected some ongoing projects in the district and commissioned a three-unit classroom block at Nachamba constructed by the assembly and assured the people that the Tatale-Zabzugu-Yendi road would be constructed.
