Irate NPP supporters chase out Afoko, Agyepong in U/E region

Some supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Thursday evening chased out the party’s national chairman Paul Afoko and its general secretary Kwabena Agyepong from a meeting in the Upper East region.

The irate party members allegedly attacked the Upper East regional organiser Jerry Asamani for organising the meeting without informing the regional chairman Mahama Adam.

The timely intervention of the police, according to eyewitnesses, saved the situation from degenerating into total chaos.

Fingers are already pointing at the regional chairman Adam as the mastermind of the commotion.

Starr News understands Afoko and Agyepong were in a meeting with constituency executives when the supporters stormed the venue – Azonsolum Guest House. The police had to escort the duo to their hotels.

Starr News’ regional correspondent Edward Addeti was also assaulted in the cause of the melee.

He was treated and discharged late Thursday night and has since made a report to the police.
