Fante chiefs angry at NPP over “fool” tag

Chiefs in the Central region are demanding an apology from the leadership of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) over an alleged derogatory remark made against them by one of the party’s Communicators, Eugene Antwi.

Mr. Antwi is reported to have described Fantes as “fools” during a political debate on a radio station in the Central region.

This has angered the chiefs and people of the region, who are asking for an immediate retraction and an official apology from the party.

Spokesperson for the aggrieved chiefs Nana Appredontwe told Starr News the NPP will have itself to blame if it refuses to heed their demand.

“We the chiefs of the Fante area have taken the matter seriously and we want the leadership of the NPP, especially the flagbearer to come out and apologise.

“They should remember that some of their key people such as Kennedy Agyapong, Nana Ato Arthur, Gladys Asmah and several others hail from the region.

“We don’t want any tribal politics so they should quickly come out and apologise,” he stated.
