A group of 31 teachers, students, school administrators, board of school commissioner, school administrators, and professors from Richland County School District One and Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina, are on their way to Ghana for student exchange and Fulbright programs.
The group, which is led by Alfred Vanderpuije, District Coordinator for Student Exchange Program to Africa (ROSETA), will arrive in Ghana on Tuesday, June 3. Activities of the group in Ghana would include studies at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon, student exchange activities through secondary, elementary and middle schools and visits to places including Elmina, and Cape Coast castles.
The exchange will also include meetings with government officials and United States Ambassadorial officials. The goal of the exchange and Fulbright programs, among others, is to strengthen the relationship between the peoples of Ghana and the United States, provide support for cultural understanding, educational awareness and reaching curriculum understanding.
