A 38-year-old unemployed man, Jojo Anderson is before an Accra circuit court for sexually defiling a 36-year-old mentally challenged woman.
The victim, Priscilla Ahulu, according to the charge sheet was confirmed as a virgin per evidence of a medical report.
The suspect, a father of two, has been charged with having carnal knowledge of a female imbecile.
The incident occurred on April 12, 2015 when Anderson lured the victim, who lives in the same vicinity with him at Kwashieman in Accra, into his home under the pretext of helping her download gospel songs onto her mobile phone.
Lawyer for the victim, Francis Xavier Sosu told Starr News the victim’s health has been affected as a result of the rape.
“She hasn’t been entirely strong. As you already know she is not very mentally stable already. But she is having a lot of pain and so she is still undergoing some medical treatment,” Sosu told Court correspondent Wilberforce Asare.
Anderson will be liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than five or more than twenty-five years when found guilty.
