Residents of Kubekro demonstrate

The residents of Kubekro, near Katamanso in the Kpone-Katamanso District in the Greater Accra Region, has demonstrated against a recent rape and murder of a girl, Ruth Ankomah in the area.

The demonstrators who walked from Zeenu School Junction to Kubekro Palace were led by Nii Mensah Bossah II, Chief of Kubekro and Nii Ashitey Saasabi II, Chief of Saasabi.

They called for thorough investigation into the murder case.

At a news conference after the demonstration, Nii Amarh Ashiboye, Secretary to the Kubekro Divisional Council who read a statement linked the killing to land conflict demarcation between Tema villages and Kpone villages.

He said the Council has made numerous calls on the security agencies on the happenings in the area but to no avail.

“Our silence does not mean we are some toothless dogs. When we get to the point where we feel we cannot be protected by the state security we shall take steps to protect ourselves,” Nii Armah Ashiboye said.

He appealed to the Lands Commission and the Survey Department to endeavour to undertake the demarcation to avert any calamity.
