Robber kills wanted colleague in robbery operation

An armed robbery gang has mistakenly gunned down a member during a robbery operation in the Upper East region.

Latif Mbazua, who has been on the police wanted list, was mistakenly killed by another robber when they raided Zoemilla, a mining community in the Talensi district.

The police have retrieved an AK 47 rifle and some ammunition from the deceased, according to Superintendent Alex Frimpong, the crime officer for the Upper East Regional Police.

“They were three in number and attacked a woman and robbed her of her Ghc5,000 and in the course of the firing, they mistakenly shot their colleague. He was shot in the stomach and we retrieved his body at a park,” Frimpong told Starr News.

This is the second time an armed robber has been killed by his colleagues during an operation this month.

On April 6, another robber was gunned down by his colleagues when they attacked small-scale miners in the Wassa Amenfi East district of the Western region.
