Persons shot in Agbogbloshie clash not dead

Two persons reported to have died in the tribal clash at the Agbogbloshie market in Accra on Wednesday, are said to be alive and receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital.

The two unnamed persons were said to have died of gunshot wounds as a result of sporadic exchange of gunfire by persons from two groups- Zamarama and Dagomba- but fresh reports indicate they sustained severe injuries as a result of the gunshots fired.

The clash was triggered by an assault on a young girl who attended to nature’s call at a rival tribe’s place.

“She was beaten up and sent away. The injured girl then went to tell her father who led her back to where she was beaten. Unfortunately, the father was hit with a hammer, triggering a violent confrontation.”

The police personnel assigned to restore calm were pelted with stones but eventually brought the situation under control.
