Ghanaians in SA unwilling to return home – Ahwoi

Ghanaian immigrants in South Africa who maybe targets for homophobic attacks in the rainbow nation are unwilling to return home, Ghana’s High Commission to that country Kwesi Ahwoi has revealed.

According to him, most of the Ghanaians there have built their businesses and acquaintances over time and are therefore reluctant to leave them behind.

“There is no group of Ghanaians who are stranded here.

“Indeed most of the Ghanaians here are not ready to go home. They are telling us that most of them have established their businesses and are married here so going home is not an option for them,” Ahwoi told Starr News Saturday.

Foreign nationals in South Africa are being attacked by locals claiming the foreigners have taken over their jobs.

So far six people including one Ghanaian have been confirmed dead in the attacks.

The Nigerian government has threatened to frustrate the interest of South Africa in Nigeria if the attacks do not end.
