Chinese Bridge preliminary competition held Accra

The 14th Chinese Bridge Preliminary competition has been held in Accra with a student of the University of Ghana, Legon, emerging as the winner.

Selected students from the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and the Wisconsin International University College, took part in the competition.

It was organized for Ghanaian students studying Chinese in their various institutions, to display Chinese culture, including singing and dancing, as well speaking fluent Chinese language.

The participants of the competition first gave speeches in Chinese, then went through a question and answer session, as well playing a xylophone.

At end of the competition, Emelia Ansong of the University of Ghana, emerged the winner and took home a Samsung Note Three for her prize, as well as a half-year scholarship by the Confucius Institute, to study in China.

She would also be representing Ghana at the Chinese Bridge Proficiency Competition to be held in China.

The Chinese Ambassador in Ghana, Sun Baohon, commended the students and said China was undertaking a comprehensive reform and establishing the rule of law.

She promised to work hard to ensure that many Confucius Institutes are opened in Ghana to enable more Ghanaians learn Chinese and its culture.
