Government will tomorrow launch Ghana’s employment policy in Accra.
The launch will coincide with the visit to Ghana by Guy Ryder, the Director General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
Reliable sources in Organised Labour told The Finder that the visit of the Director General was given priority at their closed-door meeting yesterday.
Union leaders expressed joy that the employment policy, which took over 10 years to develop, is finally ready.
It is the first in more than two decades.
It took the collaboration of government, Labour and employers to put together the policy.
The union leaders will not divulge the details of the policy, in order not to take the sail out of the wind before President John Dramani Mahama launches it tomorrow.
According to union leaders, while in Ghana, the Director General of the ILO would visit President Mahama.
The sources said government has, therefore, decided to take advantage of the visit to launch the policy.
The sources said that at yesterday’s meeting, Organised Labour also received a progress report from the Forum for Public Sector Registered Pension Schemes, which is fighting over issues concerning their tier-two pension funds.
After deliberations, committees were set up to engage government and the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) on tier-one and tier-two pensions.
