Reconstruction Of Anokye Road Begins

Work has begun on the reconstruction of a five kilometre road linking Anokye and Kuntu, a fishing community in the Mfantsiman District. The project, estimated to cost about ?92 million is expected to be completed in six months. The first phase will involve clearing and construction of culverts. The District Chief Executive, Mr.. George Kuntu Blankson and the MP for the area, with progress of work. They also interacted with the Chief and people of Kuntu and briefed them on government’s effort to develop the area. Mr.. Arthur announced that the town will be connected to the national electricity grid by the end of the year, adding that work on the extension of electricity to Ekurabadze, a nearby town, has already begun. On his part, Mr.. Kuntu Blankson advised the people to initiate their own development programmes to better their living standards. He said the District Assembly has set aside 160 million cedis to support income generating ventures in the district. He therefore urged them to benefit from the package. The chief of the Town, Nana Kwesi Brebo commended the government for initiating development projects in the area.
