Community builds bungalow for teachers

The chiefs and people of Hwidiem in the Asante-Akim North District through self-help initiative are constructing residential accommodation for teachers posted to the town.

They are contributing cash, labour, and building materials towards the implementation of the project.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has pledged to support it with 100 bags of cement and bundles of roofing sheets.

Nana Gyasi Amoako Adabor II, the chief, at a fundraising durbar held in aid of the project, said its successful completion would motivate teachers to accept posting to the place.

That is why they would do everything to finish it without delay, he assured.

The MP used the occasion to donate five laptop computers to the local junior high school (JHS) and urged the people to put premium on education.

He underlined that they should pull together to make sure the school’s environment became academically-friendly to enhance teaching and learning.

An amount of GH¢6,300.00 was realized at the durbar.
