Re: Nii Nortey has stabbed me in the back – Philip Addison alleges

My attention has been drawn to a publication which has made its way to some news portal accusing me of “stabbing” Mr. Philip Addison in the back after earlier supporting his parliamentary ambitions. The story attributes the said unfounded accusation to Mr. Addison when he granted an interview with an Accra-based radio station, Citi FM and same aired on Thursday April 9, 2015.

While I have flatly denied this falsehood in a response I gave in the form of a phone interview with the radio station, my reply has not received equal prominence and attention at least with the news portals hence I wish to exercise my right to a written rejoinder on this matter and correct the fabrications championed by Mr. Addison.

I want to state categorically that the statement made by Mr. Addison, a legal practitioner of his stature who should know better is palpably false, malicious, and mischievous and a calculated attempt to tarnish my hard-won reputation as a loyal member of the New Patriotic Party and must be treated with the necessary contempt it deserves.

For the records:

1. I have never sponsored, nor caused to happen nor had any such discussion with Mr. Philip Addison to endorse his candidature for Klottey Korle Constituency.

2. I have never been in a meeting with Mr. Addison to have given him my full support and I challenge him to give further details of such.

3. I have never introduced Mr. Addison as the person who was coming to Klottey Korle as the Parliamentary candidate as it is not within my remit as a party member to do so.

It is clear that this propagandist approach of story-cooking has the tendency of causing unnecessary bickering and undermining the unity and harmony of the party.

I wish to assure the good people of Klottey Korle Constituency and my teeming supporters who have and continue to show much support and love to me as an illustrious son of the Constituency and who have been resolute, 6 clear months after I was elected as the Chairman of the Constituency, persuaded me to contest and win the parliamentary seat for the New Patriotic Party in the 2016 elections, to remain focused and keep their calm.

I am forever grateful to the Religious Leaders, Chiefs and Opinion Leaders in the Constituency for continuous support and prayers. With the help of God, Klottey Korle will fall for the NPP.

Let us eschew Division and embrace Unity for Victory 2016.

——–Signed——–

Nii Noi Nortey
