Ghanaians must become beneficiaries of national resources

The Superintendent Minister of the Adum Wesley Cathedral of the Methodist Church, Ghana, the Very Reverend Christopher Nyarko Andam has asked public officials to be transparent and accountable in the management of the nation’s resources.

He said they must do everything to make sure that these core values are efficiently utilised to improve the socio-economic circumstance of the population, to lift them out of poverty and other human indignities.

He said the people should become real beneficiaries of the enormous resources God has bestowed on the country.

The Very Rev Andam was delivering the sermon at an Easter service held at the Cathedral in Kumasi.

He said common good must always come before individual interest, convenience and comfort.

This, he said, is the way to put Ghana on a real path of sustainable development.

He counselled the people against allowing political, religious and ethnic differences to tear the society apart.

The Very Rev Andam said they should rather accept to work together with unity of purpose to promote enduring peace and progress.

At the Bantama Peyer Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Rev Alex Adu Sekyere, Minister in-charge, urged Christians to be patriotic and law-abiding.

He asked them to stand firm in their faith and refuse to have anything doing with whatever is evil – greed, indiscipline and impunity.

The Rev Sekyere encouraged the congregation to help care for the poor and the needy.
