The energy situation is gradually seeing some improvement as some key power plants are back on stream while Nigeria has also increased the quantum of gas supply, TV3 has gathered.
But Cote d’Ivoire declined Ghana’s request for supplementary power for Easter.
A source at the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) says Nigeria’s increase in supply from as low as 20 million cubic feet (mmcf) to 100 million mmcf has resuscitated all power plants of the Volta River Authority (VRA) in Tema.
Repair works on the Asogli Power Plant has also been completed, adding 120 megawatts (MW) to the national grid, the source said.
The Aboadze Thermal Plant is also back in operation with gas from the Ghana Gas Processing Plant.
The energy deficit is expected to be reduced tremendously in June, when the Takoradi International Company (TICO) starts production of 330MW from its combined turbines.
