Re: MP, Manhyia accused of fanning Kumasi Dagomba Chieftaincy litigation

I am Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, MP for the Manhyia South constituency in Kumasi, who has been mentioned as taking sides in Dagomba Chieftaincy affairs in Kumasi.

I am by this letter categorically denying to have anything to do with such a Chieftaincy affair. I do not know and have never met any of the feuding parties.

I personally requested for the telephone number of the said Alhaji Abass(0208120553) and spoke with him. He denied mentioning me to any reporter nor having ever met me or discussed any issue with me. He claims he has evidence against the Chief mentioned and not me. I asked him to correct this erroneous information with the said reporter he promised to do so but obviously hasn’t. I called him today after reading your published story and he still insists not spoken to any reporter as regarding my involvement.

I was called by the reporter, Elias Tanko, who’s published contact number doesn’t go through but called with this number 0235223686. I denied any involvement in Dagbon Chieftaincy affair and that the Alhaji says he didn’t mention my name. I even volunteered to do a 3-way telephone call only for him to decline. This journalist goes ahead to publish such a story leaving my reaction and denial out, very diabolical. He calls me today wanting to meet me to discuss. I declined the offer and advised him to write balanced reports.

I am not and shall not be involved in any Dagbon Chieftaincy affair in Kumasi or anywhere. I am not a Dagbani nor a chief so why should I get involved in such an issue? I wish them a peaceful resolution of their problems. I hope this settles this issue and no side gets me involved through deliberate distortions.
