Chiefs urged to invest resources in education

Mr Mark Amoako Dompreh, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Chief Executive, has asked chiefs to put a stop to land litigations, which waste resources and are a bane to socio-economic development.

He said the resources being spent on litigation should rather be invested in the educating the youth in their areas to bring about development

Mr Amoako Dompreh made the call at a ceremony to initiate the construction of a new school block for the Nsawam Senior High School at Okobeyeyie, near Nsawam, in the Eastern Region.

Mrs Janet Sabina Obeng, the Director of Education for Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality, who is also the acting headmistress of the school, said the institution was established in 1991 with 207 students, but the population had grown to 1,048.

Therefore, she said, the school had acquired a 40.7-acre land to expand its boarding facilities, dormitory, playing field, science and library blocks, staff common room, among others.

Mrs Obeng commended the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly and the office of the Eastern Regional Minister for their support in acquiring the former State Farms land for the project.

Mr Lawrence Aduamoah, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the school, tasked the tutors and the students to raise the standard of teaching and learning in the institution.

He appealed to the government to include the school in the second phase of the Community Senior High School Project.
