A mechanised borehole built to provide the “B-Ward” of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) with uninterrupted flow of water has been handed over.
It was funded by a Christian religious denomination called the “Reverend Peter Kwaku Yeboah Ministries” at a cost of Ghc7,000.
This followed the Hospital’s invitation to the public for support.
Dr. Joseph Akpaloo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), praised the enthusiastic response by organisations and individuals to their appeal to help tackle some of the hospital’s critical needs in terms of facilities and infrastructure.
He said they required strong backing and partnership of private sector organisations and individuals to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery.
Dr. Akpaloo said they were encouraged by what they had seen so far and that they were hopeful more aid would continue coming in to enable the facility to achieve its goal of becoming a centre of excellence in medical care.
He thanked the church for the intervention and said it would significantly reduce its water bill.
The Founder of the church, the Rev Yeboah, said it was their contribution towards efforts at tackling the water problems facing hospital.
He announced plans to sink an additional borehole to assure the facility of adequate water supply.
