Awuku dares ‘Inside Ghana’ to sue Akufo-Addo

National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Samuel Awuku has called the bluff of ‘Inside Ghana’ over threats to sue NPP Leader, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

‘Inside Ghana’ has threatened to head to the law courts if the NPP flagbearer fails to cough up Ghc798,000 for using official vehicles for his 2007 campaign after resigning from his ministerial position.

“Nana Addo must pay the sum of Ghc798,000 in the coming days for keeping state vehicles for 19 months after standing down as Foreign Affairs Minister in 2007 to contest the NPP flagbearership, which he subsequently won, or face a court action,” the pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) pressure group demanded in a statement on Monday, March 16.

But speaking to TV3’s Daniel Opoku on Tuesday, March 17, Mr. Awuku indicated that available records suggest that Nana Addo did not use any official vehicle for his campaign.

“Nana Addo never used government cars to campaign,” he stated.

He reminded ‘Inside Ghana’ of how Mahama Ayariga apologised to Nana Addo for the wrongful seizure of his cars under late President John Atta Mills.

“And the two cars that were assigned to his office as a minister were returned to the government and official records were kept.”

The NPP Youth leader has, therefore, dared the group to head to court if they still stand by their contention.

“I am not surprised because they challenged even the law credentials of Nana Addo. Justice Kpegah was in that matter. It took a student of Nana Akufo-Addo, Godfred Dame, to floor a retired Supreme Court judge.”
