Another recruitment scam seems to have hit the Ghana Armed Forces just when a similar one that hit the Ghana Police Service recently is beginning to deepen.
The police service has been under public scrutiny after a number of job seekers were swindled by a recruitment fraudster.
However, Starr News’ investigations have revealed that some job seekers also reportedly paid over Gh¢2000 each to facilitate their entry into the military.
Many of those who paid monies to a recruitment syndicate have since not been able to secure entry into the military.
A victim who shared his story with Starr News narrated that he was directed by a military officer to pay Gh¢2000 in the hope that he would be recruited into the army but has not been able to secure admission, despite paying the monies requested of him.
Lieutenant Aggrey Quarshie, the Director of Public Affairs of the GAF has, however, told Starr News that their systems are full-proof and any officer caught in any form of recruitment scam will be dealt with.
“Anybody who is in the system knows very well that if you get yourself into this thing [recruitment scam] you would be found out.
“A lot of people have been arrested and a lot of people have been dismissed with involvement in some of these things but it’s just that at times we hardly publicise people who are involved in these kind of things,” Lt Quarshie said.
